Philanthropic relationships with individuals, and specifically with alumni, are critical to supporting excellence and academic innovation at INSEAD. The Advancement team has just completed its successful Force for Good campaign which raised over €311M in new gifts and pledges with over 50% alumni participation. To build on this momentum, we are seeking an Associate Director of Development, Advancement, for Major Giving. This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Europe Campus in Fontainebleau, France.


Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, you will, as a frontline fundraiser, secure philanthropic contributions ranging from €50K to €1M, from a portfolio of around 150 to 200 prospects within a specific segment, geography (this role will cover both UK and US) or reunion cycle. To achieve this, you will need to build strong relationships and engage with potential donors, who are financially successful and influential individuals or organisations (for e.g. alumni, foundations, corporations and other affiliates). You will recognise the importance of understanding donors' interests, passions, and motivations and ensure alignment with the INSEAD's missions and goals.


In addition, you will also be responsible for achieving annual fundraising goals by creating solicitation strategies and working through the INSEAD network of volunteers, National Alumni Associations (NAAs) and leadership.


Your Responsibilities


  • Drive fundraising: Raise a defined amount of philanthropic contributions per annum
  • Build meaningful contacts: Visit around 180 to 200 prospects (can be in-person or virtual) and conduct a defined number of qualification visits per annum to help grow the pipeline for overall portfolio health
  • Seek solicitations: Make a defined number of MG solicitations per annum based on your pipeline and portfolio
  • Build shared goals: Contribute to the department’s shared targets
  • Pledge payments: Ensure outstanding major gift pledges from prospects under your portfolio are collected
  • Stewardship: Work with stewardship team to ensure the positive engagement of existing donors to prepare them for the next gift
  • Collaboration and integration: Collaborate with faculty, staff, alumni, volunteers, and donors to further INSEAD’s fundraising efforts on key funding priorities, Legacy Giving, Founders Pledge, Annual Giving, etc.
  • Record-keeping: Record all information in the Advancement databases (Peoplesoft and Salesforce) in a timely manner


Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant experience, in fundraising, development, or related field, with a proven track record of securing major gifts from individuals, corporations, and/or foundations
  • Personable, with exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, ability to engage and inspire donors at all levels
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective fundraising strategies and plans
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, ethics, and regulations
  • Comprehensive understanding of fundraising and philanthropy within educational institutions
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal communication skills
  • Track record of making a significant impact as a member of a diverse team within a complex, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment
  • Able to travel to the UK and US at least 6 times a year
