Job Description

Qualification, Experience and Requirements Matric Certificate Formal Apprenticeship or Vocational Training Programme in welding and metal fabrication is preferred Red Seal Certificate of Competency in welding or boiler making. 5 years experience as Boilermaker / Welder or similar role post Trade Test in the construction industry Code 8 Drivers license Own transport for commuting to work Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good English verbal and written communication skills, Xhosa would be an advantage Proficient in reading, interpreting blueprints, technical drawings and specifications Strong welding skills with expertise in Stick, MIG and TIG welding techniques. Knowledge of different welding design techniques, welding equipment (uses, repair and maintenance)and accessories Ability to fabricate, assemble, install, repair and maintain earthmoving equipment and other metal structures Commitment to safety, quality and adherence to industry standards and regulations Supervisory skills (training and teaching others welding techniques) Planning, organizing, prioritizing and time management skills The physical ability to operate equipment Roles and Responsibilities Interpreting Drawings: Analyse technical drawings and specifications to understand project requirements and plan tasks accordingly Fabrication: Boilermakers are responsible for fabricating metal components and structures according to the project specifications. Welding: Utilize various welding techniques (e.g., stick welding, MIG welding, TIG welding) to securely join metal components, adhering to industry standards. Material Knowledge: Demonstrate expertise in different metals and alloys, understanding the methods and procedures required to weld or join them separately or in combination. This includes Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Cast Iron, and Mild Steel Assembly and Installation: Assemble prefabricated components and install them at construction sites, potentially involving heavy lifting and positioning with cranes. Repair and Maintenance: Conduct inspections, welding repairs, and part replacements on earthmoving equipment and metal structures to ensure functionality and safety. Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety standards and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. Wear appropriate PPE, follow safety protocols, and identify/address potential hazards Quality Control: Ensure work meets quality standards and specifications by conducting inspections and testing welds for strength and integrity. Make necessary adjustments or repairs to meet project requirements. Collaboration: Work effectively within a team of artisans and engineers, communicating clearly and collaborating to achieve project objectives Management: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to assistants and junior artisans, facilitating their skill development and ensuring timely, high-quality work completion Planning and Organising: Estimate project timelines, develop material requirements lists, and manage task execution to meet predetermined timelines and quality standards Remuneration and Contract - LDC 12 Month Contract - R23 000 R28 000 Dependent of Experience - Must be willing to relocate
