Job Description

DESCRIPTION The Tahltan Mobile Support Team (MST) plays a crucial role within the Tahltan Nation, collaborating with community agencies to provide a range of essential services, including seminars, workshops, crisis response, and care planning for individuals and families. The Mental Health & Addictions Clinician, aligned with the vision and values of the Tahltan Band Council, conducts comprehensive assessments, care planning, and treatment coordination for designated clients and families. Working in tandem with the multidisciplinary team, the clinician delivers direct psychosocial care, counseling, group work, system navigation, and advocacy while facilitating client self-management. This position primarily serves the communities of Telegraph Creek, Dease Lake, and Iskut, providing a continuum of services, including prevention, promotion, education, crisis intervention, and consultation on cultural and clinical interventions. Engaging communities through activities such as facilitating Family Circles and support groups for mental health and addictions. 2. Providing direct mental health and addiction services, including assessments, care planning, counseling, crisis intervention, and referral coordination. 3. Offering a clinical perspective to team practices, participating in planning, program development, and operational activities, and maintaining client records. 4. Maintaining professional knowledge through ongoing education and participation in relevant activities. 5. Collaborating with existing services, providing crisis response, capacity building, and training on suicide risk awareness and prevention. 6. Acting as a resource person, providing orientation, in-service sessions, and education to multidisciplinary teams and other health professionals. 7. Participating in committees, meetings, and conferences as required. QUALIFICATIONS  Master’s Degree in Social Work or Clinical Counseling.  Two years of recent related Mental Health & Addictions experience.  Current registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers, British Columbia Association of Clinical Counselors, or the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.  Valid BC Driver’s License.  Experience working with BC First Nations organizations and communities.  Knowledge of First Nations health governance landscape, mental wellness, and cultural protocols.
