Working in 3rd shift Job Title : System Administrator Job Description : We are seeking a skilled and experienced System Administrator to join our team. As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. You will ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and partners to effectively accomplish their goals. Responsibilities : - Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools. - Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. - Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes. - Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies. - Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks. - Participate in the design of information and operational support systems. - Provide 2nd and 3rd level support. - Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution. - Keep abreast of new technologies and recommend their adoption when appropriate. - Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts. - Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. - Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media. - Create, change, and delete user accounts per request. - Provide support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues. - Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. - Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary. - Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs. - Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures. - Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. - Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. - Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux based environments. - Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g., Apache, Nginx, Tomcat). - Solid Cloud experience, preferably in AWS or Azure. - Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box, Docker). - Experience with monitoring systems (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix). - Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python). - Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, Chef). - Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP). - Familiarity with load balancing, firewalls, etc. - Ability to work independently and in a team environment. - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. - Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. - Strong attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications : - Certifications such as RHCE, RHCSA, CompTIA Linux, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or similar. - Experience with relational database management systems, preferably MySQL, PostgreSQL. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines. - Experience with Windows Server administration. - Experience with ITIL framework.
