Job Description

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB To facilitate and administer the learning and teaching process for students in modules presented by the Nelson Mandela University at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. To participate in and contribute to research and innovation, postgraduate student supervision, contribute to community, discipline and professional engagement as well as being involved in the core functions of the University. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Facilitate the learning and teaching programmes, processes and outcomes of the department. Participate in and conduct to publishing of research and innovation. Supervise postgraduates students and projects. Perform academic, community and discipline engagement. Perform administration. Contribute to quality of the programmes and programme reviews. CORE COMPETENCIES Ability to facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level in communication networks. Ability to guide learners through enterprise network design projects. Knowledge in core routing, switching, and troubleshooting concepts. An understanding of network virtualisation concepts. Knowledge in the fields of cybersecurity and network security would be advantageous. Ability to actively engage in and supervise post graduate research. Ability to synthesize information to design learning experiences. Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences through various media. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. REQUIREMENTS Masters degree in Information Technology or equivalent with at least 2 years relevant working experience. Relevant experience in which competency has been gained in line with the relevant post. Experience in lecturing would be advantageous. Experience as a manger in a CISCO or other network academy will be advantageous Nelson Mandela University reserves the right not to make an appointment.
