The Resident Hall Intern position is a 10-month, live-in position with the Office of Housing and Residential Life at SUNY Maritime College. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the Residence Hall Intern will be responsible for supporting the development of a residential community; students' social, academic, and ethical awareness, and responsibility to safe health practices inside and out of the residence halls.

The Residence Hall Intern is required to work 20 hours per week in the OHRL between the hours of 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. During this time, the intern will engage in a hands-on experience providing leadership, training, and intervention assistance to the Resident Advisors and the student body. The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate check-in and check-out procedures.
• Interview and participate in the training of Resident Advisors.
• Investigate policy violations outlined in the Guide to Campus Housing, Student Code of Conduct, and Regiment of Cadets.
• Responsible for crisis intervention, conflict mediation, and follow up procedures.
• Facilitate weekly staff meetings; organize staff development activities, coordinate campus wide events
• Participate in an on-call duty rotation
• Coordinate COVID-19 quarantine / isolation accommodations
*Some evening and weekend work may be required.
• Bachelor's degree
• Enrolled in a Graduate program
• 1-2 years Residence Hall experience
Classification/Salary Range: Residence Hall Intern is a UUP Position. The anticipated salary range for this position is $12,000 - $14,000 annually. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will commence immediately and conclude when the position is filled.
Special Notes: This is a part- time, 10 month live-in appointment. If applicable, all incumbents are required to live in an apartment within the hall to which assigned. FLSA exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
