Marketing Intern (Unpaid)

Job Description

The Marketing Intern will provide support for the Marketing Department, including:
• Event-based needs, such as guest check-in, assistance with photography metadata, etc.
• Capturing social media content at Emmy Awards events, Academy member events, Faculty Conference and Hall of Fame.
• Participating in planning and strategy for the Academy’s social media channels
• Attending meetings, taking and distributing notes
• Providing general assistance (scheduling meetings, research, data management, proofing press releases and collateral materials)

What You’ll Learn:
• Filling out Photo Request Forms
• How to schedule, plan and execute a Photo Shoot – the details of organizing time, planning a shoot in multiple, far-flung locations, thorough communications to all parties involved.
• What to look for when setting up/composing photos
• What makes a good photo for wire distribution v. internal use, as well as what makes a good caption.
• Using Invision Digital Fusion photo storage site
• Introduction to or developing further skills on Hootsuite – adding media to scheduled posts
• Improving social copy-writing and content creation skills
• Improving publicity copy-writing skills
• Google Sheets: Creating lists
• Using/navigating the DAM
• Utilizing DropBox
• Appropriate note-taking skills/meeting manners
• Communicating with other employees
• Receiving feedback from superiors
• Gaining experience around talent/events; hosting celebrities and executives at Television Academy functions/working with event staffs to help events run smoothly.
• How to organize and effectively execute a red carpet for Emmy nominee receptions.
• How to host press at various member and special events (i.e., Emmy Awards media events, Hall of Fame, etc.)

Job Requirements

MUST be enrolled in an accredited college or university.
MUST be receiving college credit for internship work hours.
Excellent writing and communication skills
Highly organized multi-tasker
Self-starter who can take direction and work independently
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Familiar with popular social media channels
Quick to learn new software and apps
Strong research skills
