Seasonal RN Supervisor

AHRC camps offer vacation opportunities to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are looking for a Nursing Supervisor to work full-time during the summer of 2019 starting in June, with the potential for other employment opportunities within the agency starting in September.

Ideal candidates have management experience, a strong clinical background, integrative approach and work well in a team environment.

Camps are located in Ancram and East Jewett, NY--within a 30-60-minute drive to Rhinebeck, Woodstock, Poughkeepsie, Albany, New Paltz and other fine destinations. Camps are ~ 2-hour drive to New York City.

We can assist you with finding reliable care for your child during your work hours, either in our own camp or in a neighboring day camp.
Qualifications Required:

NYS RN Certification & up to date CPR, First Aid, AED (to SCDH standards)

Experience:
  • Experience in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Individuals with Special Needs (Preferred)
  • Experience in an Acute Care Facility, Long Term Care, Community/Public Health and/or previous recreation or holistic background (Preferred)
  • Supervisor or Manager experience preferred

Night on-call

Responsibilities Include:

Oversee Health Center operations during assigned shifts, including direct supervision of RNs, LPNs and non-licensed staff. Prioritize duties and responsibilities of staff on duty, delegate tasks as warranted to meet Health Center objectives as outlined in daily routine or as identified by Nursing Director.
  • Monitor and supervise all operations of the Camp Health Center including, supervision, evaluation and direction of the Health Center personnel.
  • Assist in organization of Health Center Operations both pre and post season.
  • Participate in delivery of general staff orientation in-services
  • Responsible for the preseason set-up and the postseason closing of the Health Center.
  • Maintain and monitor all medical and health records of campers and staff, and coordinate same with office staff.
  • Identify pertinent camper medical needs and insure that this information is communicated with the appropriate camp staff.
  • Be responsible for the safe procurement, storage, dispensing and administration of all medications.
  • Insure that proper and appropriate documentation for all medications is maintained. Report medication errors, intervention and camper status to the Nurse Director promptly.
  • Set and maintain standards of emergency care to minimize the possibility of accident or illness at camp. Review the health log and incident reports daily.
  • Inform Nurse Coordinator/Director of any patterns of illness, health hazards, injuries and/or accidents.
  • Provide for the proper nursing intervention with regard to camper and/or staff illness, condition or emergency care. Make appropriate referrals and provide for follow up care as warranted.
  • Communicate with families as needed for preparation for camp, reporting illness or injury and to communicate any other health issues at camp.
  • Provide direct nursing care services in the Health Center when indicated by scheduling considerations or other conditions.
  • Maintain and monitor the Health Center Policy and Procedure Manual, and update as necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain all camp First Aid Kits.
  • Familiarize yourself with and insure the implementation of all Department of Health regulations that are applicable at camp. Act as "Camp Health Director" as outlined by said regulations.
  • Familiarize yourself with and insure the implementation of the guidelines of all other agencies that have regulatory jurisdiction over camp.
  • Inform Director of any and all staff related problems or concerns.
  • Uphold and ensure the implementation of all camp policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Attend all meetings as required by the Camp Administration.
  • Work a full time work week while at camp (from early June to late August). Days off are to be coordinated through the Nursing Director.
  • Perform other tasks/functions as requested by the Nursing Director or Director of Camping & Recreation.
