About The Position Wellhart is seeking a Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens position in Maine. This 36-day assignment begins on 02/09/2026, offering a Monday to Friday schedule with 8-hour days. The physician will perform a variety of gastrointestinal procedures, including lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and various types of upper GI endoscopy. The role requires expertise in diagnostic procedures, biopsies, foreign body removal, and banding of varices. This opportunity, which utilizes the Epic system, may lead to an extension, providing an excellent chance for a rewarding temporary placement in gastroenterology. Job Details: Location: Maine Start Date: 02/09/2026 LOA: 36 days Provider Type Needed: Physician (Gastroenterologist) Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour days Job Responsibilities and Duties: • Perform lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy procedures • Conduct upper GI endoscopy, including diagnostic procedures, biopsies, foreign body removal, and banding of varices • Utilize the Epic electronic health record system for documentation and patient management • Adhere to all facility protocols and safety standards • Maintain open communication with the healthcare team and other professionals • Conduct pre-procedure consultations and post-procedure follow-ups • Ensure proper equipment function and maintenance • Provide expert gastrointestinal care and consultations as needed Additional Information: • Overtime requires pre-approval • Must be licensed to practice in Maine • Possibility of assignment extension Apply now to learn more!
