About the Role This role is the welcoming face of the International Student Advisory & Support team, providing the first point of contact for students seeking guidance and assistance. You’ll play an important part in creating a positive first impression, ensuring every student feels supported and valued from the moment they reach out. As the key front-of-house representative, you’ll manage appointment bookings and respond to enquiries via phone, email and in person, ensuring each interaction is handled with professionalism and care. You’ll also provide clear information and connect students with the right services, helping them navigate their studies and life at Swinburne with confidence. Success in this role calls for exceptional customer service skills, strong communication, and the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. You’ll take a proactive and solutions-focused approach, using your initiative and sound judgement to provide timely, accurate support in a dynamic environment. The reception space is shared with the Student Equity and AccessAbility Services team, and at times you may assist with general direction or provide contact information to visitors. This position is ideal for someone who is approachable, organised and genuinely passionate about enhancing the experience, success and wellbeing of international students. This role is based on campus at Hawthorn and involves welcoming and assisting students in person. You’ll be a regular presence at the reception desk for most of the week, helping create a friendly and supportive environment. Flexibility options possible after probation period. About You To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: Exemplary customer service skills and demonstrated passion for improving customer experience and processes Demonstrated cultural and social sensitivity and advanced cross-cultural communication skills Ability to remain calm under pressure and always maintain the professional standards of the team Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to improvise and use initiative to achieve an outcome Qualifications Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or completion of an associate diploma and subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
