Reader in Business and MBA Director Grade 9 (£58,225.91 - £67,468.52) Full Time, 35 hours per week Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. Dundee Business School is one of four Departments within the Faculty of Design, Informatics and Business (DIB). The Faculty was formed in August 2024 with Dundee Business School joining three existing Departments: Games and Arts, Game Technology and Mathematics, and Cybersecurity. The Faculty is the home of Abertay’s degree programmes in law, accounting and finance, business and marketing, cybersecurity, applied computer science, computer games and digital arts. Abertay was the first University in the world to offer degrees in Computer Games Technology and Ethical Hacking, and we recognised as leaders internationally in games and nationally in cybersecurity. With the addition of Dundee Business School into the Faculty, we are now extending our academic team to develop our national and international standing. The University now seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Business Reporting to the Head of Dundee Business School, you will contribute to the excellent teaching experience and impactful research and knowledge exchange within the business subject area(s). This role is open to any single and/or combination of business subjects. In addition to our current disciplines, we are open to applicants in other areas including: leadership & followership, digital transformation, operations & logistics, innovation, project management, international business & entrepreneurship. The Dundee Business School MBA programme has been running for over a decade and it’s time for a refresh and update. We are looking for a Director who can help us to grow the programme and to transform it into a future-forward MBA, which works well at home and with partners globally. We are also currently building an Executive Education portfolio, which you could help to influence and shape. The Faculty leadership is seeking to grow and strengthen its research base in Business, including research with impact. The role holder will work closely with the Faculty research leadership and Abertay’s Graduate School to support RKE development, with a particular interest in candidates who can build a sustainable portfolio for impact cases. The role requires a Persuasive communicator & skilled influencer — wins buy-in from faculty, partners and executives; presents with credibility to academic and practitioner audiences. Student-centred, inclusive educator — designs accessible learning for diverse, international and PGT/MBA/Executive cohorts; uses data to improve outcomes. Strategic programme builder — sees the big picture, prioritises effectively, and sequences a multi-year MBA refresh with clear milestones and KPIs. Entrepreneurial and opportunity-led — spots unmet market needs, pilots quickly, iterates from evidence, and scales what works. Digitally fluent — confident with VLEs, learning analytics and best practice pedagogy; comfortable with online, hybrid and partner-delivered modes. Impact-minded scholar — aligns research/KE to real-world problems; understands pathways to impact and REF-style case development. Organised project finisher — plans backwards, manages risk and budgets, keeps teams on track; calm under pressure and deadline-reliable.
