About Police Digital Service The Technical Architect is a key role in the PDS Delivery Team who has responsibility for providing Architecture and Design advice to support successful and timely delivery of the ambitions described in the National Policing Digital Strategy and PDS portfolio in partnership with Home Office, Forces, LEAs and suppliers. The TA will contribute to delivery of a coherent plan on how PDS will facilitate and enable the realisation of the outcomes described within the Digital Data and Technology Strategy, with Forces and existing and emerging suppliers and partners, including: Monitoring emerging tech trends and offerings capable of making a measurable and lasting impact in policing and law enforcement organisations and promote good practice ideas. Define and govern how technical solutions are designed, configured, and implemented as the ICT technical design authority and a key stakeholder in an effective enterprise design practice. Ensuring that all relevant Programmes and Projects reference any PDS technical architecture blueprints. Support definition, design and interpretation of technical artefacts from business design specifications and capability to create solutions that meet business requirements. Undertake the role of technical design authority liaison with Forces for all ICT change. Support business case development and associated development of benefit identification and realisation plans for current PDS portfolio and planned refresh or future CSR investments. Contribute to development of appropriate frameworks, standards, libraries and approach to be adopted to implement the PDS portfolio and keep these up to date. What you need to succeed in the role Proven, demonstrable and current experience in a Technical Architect role in large and complex organisation with equally complex service requirements. Strong engagement focus and proactive style, that motivates, builds trust and inspires staff and other delivery partners to engage with PDS productively. Proven experience of managing teams delivering architecture services and have an understanding of how to apply available tools, techniques and technologies and determine their suitability in delivering programmes/ projects. These may include but are not limited to: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, SaaS, UX and Web Development, APIs, Open Data, Automation, Insight and Analytics, Data Warehouse, Internet of Things, Mobile Apps, Machine Learning, DevOps, Data and Network Security.
