About the Role As Electrical Control Systems Engineer you will Maintain and repair production plant and machinery including: Providing technical support to factories Problem solving with robotics General fault finding. Suggesting ways of improving production in given areas. Extensive knowledge in servo control and servo drive Burner control systems and gas work. Guard switches and interlock systems assessment Expertise in pneumatic circuit design Working from AUTO CAD drawings Able to design new electrical drawings and PLC Programme upgrades/conversions Programming PLCs Siemens (S5, S7), SCADAs, HMI Communication protocol: RS232/485, Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Modbus, Profibus, FieldBus. Programming in C++, VB Install new equipment, including commissioning control panels Promote and implement an Engineering Technical Specifications and Standards Procedure to ensure compliance with the Machinery Directive in force Provide a management and assessment of functional safety, including support in planning and in design of safety circuit and safety logic programming against best practices Manage all aspects of mandatory testing relating to electrical installation including fixed wire testing, PAT testing, HV transformers and switchgears Survey and control electrical drawings and PLC/SACDA backups Ensure that the final installation and operation of any machine or combination of machines/sub-assemblies conform to the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations in force at the time Ensure compliance with the European Machinery Directive (including CE marking requirements) for the installation of any new equipment / any significant change to the machinery Investigate new technology in order to upgrading existing equipment with a view to improving factory performance Work alongside both UK Engineering and Central Engineering to maximise potential of teams and machinery Promote and encourage continuous improvement (PIP Project) and use of lean manufacturing methodologies Implement and fully embrace the 5Ss and visual management techniques Hours of Work: 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday About You HND in engineering, preferably mechatronics C & G 18th edition qualification must be comfortable with modifying and working on 440v control systems An understanding of the following: Inverter drive systems (Siemens, Danfoss and SEW) Control Systems for temperature, pressure and analogue systems Good knowledge of electrical safety circuits Electrical schematics and be able to design from scratch Safety systems and their design PLC Programming and PLC hardware preferably Siemens S7 Robot programming Experience in electrical and control design and development Able to produce CAD electrical schematics using Autocad Experience of working in a heavy industrial environment Ability to solve complex problems Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes in environment/technology Ability to work alone or as part of a team Willingness to contribute ideas and share information Good verbal and written communication skills and experience of communicating with different types of people at all levels of an organisation Desirable Experience of working with brick and/or roof tile manufacturing machinery Degree in an Electrical engineering subject Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) / The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Certificates Experience of Continuous Improvement (CI) systems Working knowledge of CMMS systems. (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) MEWP licence.
