We’re seeking a Senior Design Engineer (EC&I) to join our team in Motherwell, working across defence, nuclear and substation projects that strengthen the nation’s critical infrastructure. What you’ll be doing Designing and developing EC&I systems for major defence, nuclear and power infrastructure projects. Producing and verifying detailed technical documentation — from drawings and specifications to design reports and schedules. Reviewing supplier and manufacturer documentation for EC&I compliance and quality assurance. Supporting design and construction reviews, identifying and mitigating design risks. Providing expert technical guidance to project teams and contributing to design innovation. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and suppliers. Mentoring and developing junior engineers within the team. What we’re looking for Proven experience in electrical, control and instrumentation design. Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with a collaborative and problem-solving approach. Strong working knowledge of relevant standards, codes and regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with design tools. A passion for innovation, safety and continuous improvement. Due to the nature of the projects, candidates must have lived and worked in the UK for at least the past 5 years to meet security clearance requirements.
