Our client has a long and fascinating history spanning over 140 years and is part of a larger retail group with an entrepreneurial owner. Their 90 stores and website are supported by a Retail Support Centre in Wimbledon, a distribution centre in Buckinghamshire, and customer support centre in the Northwest. They are people-oriented Company which thrives on supporting its colleagues by providing them with the knowledge, tools, policies and procedures they need to excel in their role. They are now looking for a Senior Buyer with SDA (small domestic appliances) experience to deliver the budgeted financial KPIs (Sales/Income/Terms/Stock turn) as agreed with the Head of Retail Sales and Trading Director. This role will be based out of their Wimbledon offices and will largely be office based with up to one day per week WFH. As one of their Senior Buyers you will build a market leading product and promotional proposition across stores and online which consistently offers the consumer a compelling reason to shop with the brand. Maximising profitability through strong negotiation and a relevant pricing strategy. You will also work with the Head of and wider team to deliver e-commerce growth plans through an appropriate stocked-in strategy. Senior Buyer – Responsibilities - Contribute to the development of a strategic plan for the department in conjunction with the Head of Retail Sales and Trading Director. - Play a lead role in the delivery of these agreed plans and take specific responsibility for the achievement of the budgeted sales and income targets. - Build exciting product ranges, with the regular introduction of new innovative products to delight customers, both in store and online. - Ensure relevant and appropriate volume targets to maximise net supplier profitability. - Look to rapidly grow stocked in online ranges and capitalise on the opportunity that this represents. - Develop a high level of expertise in the relevant markets, including latest social media trends to understand changing consumer behaviour and consistently introduce new, innovative and culturally relevant products. Senior Buyer – Required Skills - Expert and in-depth knowledge / expertise in the SDA (small domestic appliances) category area for ownership of the product from selection through to sale. - Highly organised and experienced trader, able to translate market trends into key sales opportunities. - Strong understanding of multi-channel retailing with a proven track record of delivering growth. - An excellent understanding of the life cycle of a product in a seasonally reactive business. - Proven senior experience in Buying/Product Selection at an appropriate level for at least 3 years. - Experienced in devising and delivering strong product ranges across several product sub-categories. - Negotiation skills – proven ability to stretch all aspects of negotiation to deliver and exceed margin, profit and growth targets. - Highly analytical with experience of budgeting processes and reporting. - Proven understanding of Far East Sourcing (FOB), Manufacturing and QA/C.
