Job Title: New Business P&C Underwriter Location: Leeds Office Overview Our client is expanding their Commercial Underwriting team in Leeds and seeking engaging, forward-thinking professionals to help shape the future of their business. Ideal Candidate This role is ideal for individuals who have gained exposure to insurance—perhaps as a trainee, broker, or account manager—and are ready to take the next step in their underwriting journey. Key Responsibilities • Develop and maintain responsive, flexible, and collaborative relationships with broker networks • Make informed decisions supported by data, insight, and mobile decision-support tools • Deliver profitable growth across new business in key markets • Partner with clients and internal teams to tailor insurance solutions • Attend client visits and industry events as part of relationship-building efforts What's on Offer • Technical Development: Become an expert with ownership over your work • Career Progression: Tailored development plans and training • Professional Qualifications: Support for FIT, Cert CII, or Dip CII • Smart Working: Hybrid model with at least 60% of the week in the Leeds office or on-site with clients • Flexible Arrangements: Options available to suit individual needs Candidate Requirements • Curious mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo • Insight into customer needs and market trends • Strong collaboration and accountability • Experience in commercial P&C open market underwriting or broking • Excellent trading capability and negotiation skills • Strong broker relationship management • Knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements • Analytical skills with experience in account monitoring and planning • Resilience and a drive for continuous improvement Eligibility to work in the UK is required. This role falls under the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD), requiring periodic background screening.
