Product Specialist

Product Specialist - New Product Development Onsite role based near Southampton Specialising in New Product Development, this is a cross-functional role that manages the lifecycle of new products from concept to launch. You will be key to driving product innovation and expanding our product portfolio through trend, technical and market research. You are naturally inquisitive and like to push boundaries with out of the box thinking. About the Role : This position requires creativity alongside strong communication, problem-solving, and data analysis skills to ensure products are desirable, viable, and meet market needs. You will work directly with our clients & sales team to understand their product needs and incorporate this in the relevant development plan. You will be required to present the product solutions to our clients and assist in the sales process. You will work closely with our established supply base (including some brand relationships) as well as suggesting / introducing potential new suppliers as appropriate. You will be instrumental in the implementation of our Net Zero mission – developing lower carbon products as well as driving our suppliers to meet these targets and helping them to do so. Responsibilities : Managing New Product Development projects from start to finish adhering to deadlines Taking / understanding client specific briefs and working with them to provide product solutions Researching new trends in materials, production techniques and aesthetics Driving product innovation and growing our product portfolio Developing new products - generating, sourcing and realising product innovations to a budget Working as part of a team and, as required, leading on tendering projects – ensuring compliance to the tender requirements, adherence to deadlines, on time / to specification submission and follow up Identifying viable manufacturers & production methods Ensuring products are operationally and technically compliant Requesting quotations / specifications / product information as required Price negotiation Preparing product costings Creating detailed product specifications Attending and, as required, leading client product presentations Attending trade fairs Focus on sustainability - in sourcing locations, materials, packaging, disposal, reuse etc Contribution to our social media content – on occasion What you’ll bring: • Experience within product development, prototyping or manufacturing • Strong analytical and market research skills • A creative approach with excellent attention to detail • Confident communication and the ability to work cross-functionally • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects If you’re motivated by innovation and keen to drive meaningful product development, we'd love to hear from you.
