Overview of the role; To oversee the daily operations of the warehouse unit, ensuring efficient receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of goods. The Warehouse Unit Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, leading the warehouse team, and ensuring compliance with safety and company standards. Manage the airline equipment, repair, and maintenance of vehicles, and the facility. Qualifications & Experience Grade 12 (Matric) required. A diploma in Logistics/Warehouse Management or a related field is an advantage. Minimum 35 years of experience in warehouse supervision or management, preferably in a retail, onboard catering, or inflight service environment. Knowledge of the aviation industry is an advantage. Proficient in MS tools and warehouse/inventory systems. Strong leadership and communication skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. Knowledge of stock control and warehouse safety standards. Supervise all warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, order fulfillment, and dispatch. Plan and coordinate workflow to meet daily and weekly operational targets. Monitor the loading and offloading of goods to ensure accuracy and speed. Ensure stock is properly rotated (FIFO) and stored in designated areas. Maintain accurate stock records and ensure regular stock counts are completed. Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions. Work closely with the procurement and finance teams to reconcile stock reports. Supervise, train, and motivate warehouse staff (dispatcher, storeman, cleaner, pickers, packers, drivers, etc.). Manage shift schedules, leave, and attendance to ensure adequate staffing levels. Conduct team meetings and provide regular feedback to improve performance. Enforce occupational health and safety regulations within the warehouse. Ensure all equipment and tools are maintained in a safe working condition. Promote a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Prepare daily and weekly warehouse performance reports (e.g., dispatch accuracy, productivity, damages). Ensure all documentation (delivery notes, invoices, GRVs, etc.) is accurate and filed correctly. Identify areas for improvement in warehouse processes and suggest practical solutions. Assist in implementing new systems or technology to improve efficiency. Manage the repair and maintenance of the vehicles and facility. Ensure all the certifications and licenses of the facility are compliant and valid Flexible approach to working hours to cover various contract needs. Ensure professional working manners. Instill confidence in the ability to understand compliance requirements and ensure they are met. Based at the warehouse facility, occasional weekend or after-hours work may be required. Physically active role requiring regular movement, supervision of loading areas, and stock checks. Support audits and inspections as required by management or regulatory authorities.
