We’re expanding our Water and Wastewater (Non-Infra) team and are seeking a Lead Civil Engineer to drive the technical excellence and delivery of key design projects across the UK. Based in our Manchester office, you will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team Engineers and Technicians based in offices around the UK. You will be part of our growing Water and Utilities Team providing design expertise in collaboration with major UK companies across the country Follow the link below for a flavour of some of our recent projects and the type of work and opportunities that are available: https://pellfrischmann.com/sector/water The Role As Lead Civil Engineer , you will: Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams delivering non-infrastructure (non-infra) projects such as treatment works, pumping stations, storage facilities, and associated structures. Provide technical leadership in civil and structural design, ensuring compliance with client specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. Oversee project delivery from feasibility through detailed design and construction support. Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical growth and professional development. Collaborate closely with clients including key UK water companies and framework partners. Contribute to business development, bid writing, and framework management activities. Essential and Preferred Experience CategoryEssentialPreferred Qualifications - MEng or BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering or equivalent - Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward Chartership with ICE - MSc in Water Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or similar - Preferred - Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE2) - Preferred Experience - Considerable post graduate experience in civil engineering design - Proven track record delivering water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects - Experience working with major UK water companies (e.g., Thames, Severn Trent, United Utilities, Yorkshire Water, South West Water, Anglian, etc.) - Experience on AMP7 / AMP8 framework projects - Design team leadership or line management experience - Experience in early-stage optioneering and feasibility studies Technical Skills - Strong understanding of civil design for water treatment assets (tanks, chambers, buildings, retaining structures) - Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and relevant design codes (Eurocodes, Sewers for Adoption) - Knowledge of CDM regulations and design risk management - Preferred - Experience using BIM, Revit, and digital design workflows - Preferred - Familiarity with hydraulic modelling interfaces and process engineering collaboration - Preferred Soft Skills - Excellent communication and stakeholder management - Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams - Strong organisational and mentoring skills - Business development and proposal writing experience - Client framework management or key account experience Why Pell Frischmann?
