Following the Independent Water Commission’s final report, the UK government has set out a bold new direction - one that brings together expertise from across the sector to deliver better outcomes for customers and the environment. We are working in collaboration with the government and other regulators to help establish a new body for England, combining our strengths with those of the Drinking Water Inspectorate, the Environment Agency, and Natural England. The Role Ofwat's company engagement team leads and coordinates Ofwat’s engagement with water companies. We act as the central hub for efficient, informed, and strategic interactions that drive performance, enable oversight, and support policy through deep company insight and collaboration. We expect the team to play a significant role in the supervisory approach that was signalled in the Independent Water Commission recommendations. The team currently has the following headline goals: Providing a key link / bridge across and outside Ofwat on engaging with companies. Contributing to the driving of company performance. The central coordinator or source of information on each of the companies. Supporting Ofwat's policy development, policy implementation and wider evolution Developing key enabling infrastructure to support the company engagement team's performance. The role would suit individuals who can demonstrate excellent communication skills, resilience, an ability to analyse and distil complex information and who have an interest in policy development and implementation. You will need to enjoy working with large volumes of information, short deadlines, senior colleagues, and external contacts. About You To be successful in this role you will need the below essential attributes, experience, skills and knowledge: Lead criterion 1: Ability to analyse complex information and ideas, including data, to identify meaningful insights and create solutions Lead criterion 2: Demonstrated capability to present analysis clearly through reports, presentations, and publications for varied audiences Experience of building professional relationships and possession of strong interpersonal skills to achieve successful outcomes Problem solving and decision-making skills, as well as sound judgement Good organisational skills, including taking responsibility for leadership of specific workstreams Excellent oral and written communication skills, including using PowerPoint, Word and Excel Be innovative, challenge the norm and constantly look for improvements and efficiencies Some familiarity with aspects of Ofwat's regulatory role and the companies that we regulate.
