This role involves utilizing specialized equipment to assist in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The goal is to achieve accurate diagnosis and optimal treatment of heart disease while ensuring maximum patient safety and comfort. Primary responsibilities include setting up imaging equipment, monitoring patients, and documenting procedures. The specialist acts as a scrub assistant in an environment involving the application of ionizing radiation for various cardiovascular procedures. Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following: Adheres to performance standards, policies, and behaviors. Assists Invasive Cardiologists with diagnostic and interventional procedures. Prepares patients for cardiac and peripheral procedures and provides patient care during all stages. Prepares procedure rooms for various cardiac and electrophysiological procedures. Obtains necessary equipment for scheduled procedures according to physician preferences. Assists Cardiologists with analytical calculations and interpretive measurements for diagnostics. Utilizes standards and guidelines to ensure cost-effective patient care. Knowledgeable in electrocardiogram and hemodynamic pressure tracing interpretation. Provides assistance to patients in the inpatient setting, including sheath removal and groin management. Supports electrophysiology procedures and device implants. Acts as a preceptor for new hires and clinical internship students. Proficient in reviewing and abstracting pertinent patient information before, during, and after procedures. Records all procedural data in an organized and complete manner. Demonstrates proficiency in various imaging modalities. Knowledgeable about interventional equipment for various procedures. Manages inventory, maintains supply levels, and submits purchase requisitions. Reports departmental supply needs to the appropriate personnel. Stores supplies and equipment properly and discards used items according to infection control guidelines. Maintains a steady inventory of surgical instruments and equipment. Transports used surgical instruments to Central Sterile Processing Department after procedures. Performs quality control activities on designated equipment. Ensures departmental equipment is in proper working order. Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions promptly. Initiates repair requests with responsible personnel. Assists with billing processes and charge audits. Prepares and revises policies and procedures as necessary. Demonstrates flexibility in staffing needs by covering all shifts and weekends as required. Performs additional related duties as needed based on the requirements of the department and organization. Performs other duties as assigned.
