Job Title: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Profession: Healthcare Professional Specialty: Cardiovascular Duration: Full-time Shift: Monday to Friday; varied shifts (8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM) varied shifts, w/ off-hours & wked/hol. on call duties Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: One year of scrub technician or cardiac technician experience preferred License: RCIS Certification required within 12 months of hire Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: High School Diploma required; Bachelor of Science Degree preferred; successful completion of scrub technician training program; excellent clinical judgment Description: The Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist is a healthcare professional working under the direction of an Invasive Cardiologist and Nurse Manager. This role involves the utilization of specialized equipment to assist in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The aim is to achieve accurate diagnosis and optimal treatment of heart disease while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Primary responsibilities include setting up imaging equipment, patient monitoring, documenting procedures, and functioning as an equipment circulator. The specialist acts as a scrub assistant in an environment that involves the application of ionizing radiation for various cardiovascular procedures. Key responsibilities include: Understanding and adhering to Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors. Assisting cardiologists with diagnostic and interventional catheterization procedures. Preparing patients for cardiac and electrophysiology procedures. Contributing to patient care before, during, and after procedures. Preparing the procedure room effectively. Obtaining necessary equipment according to physician preferences. Assisting in analytical calculations and interpretations of diagnostic values. Utilizing standards for cost-effective patient care. Interpreting electrocardiograms and hemodynamic pressure tracings. Providing assistance and coverage to patients, including sheath removal and transport. Assisting with electrophysiology procedures and device implants. Serving as a preceptor for new hires and internship students. Reviewing and documenting patient information comprehensively. Recording procedural data accurately in departmental logs. Demonstrating proficiency in advanced imaging modalities. Being knowledgeable about interventional devices used in procedures. Managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining par levels. Reporting supply needs to appropriate personnel. Storing supplies and equipment properly, following infection control guidelines. Transporting used surgical instruments to the appropriate department post procedure. Maintaining quality control activities on designated equipment. Inspecting equipment to ensure proper working order. Identifying and reporting equipment malfunctions promptly. Initiating requests for repairs and services as needed. Assisting with billing processes and audits. Participating in the preparation and revision of policies and procedures. Demonstrating flexibility in covering staffing needs across shifts and weekends. Completing all other related duties as required based on the needs of the organization.
