Technician (Knit) - Temp My client is a well-established and leading organisation who are currently seeking an experienced Technician (Knit) to join their team based in Belfast. This is a Temporary position initially for 4 weeks - with an immediate start. Working hours: 18.5 hours per week. With a salary of £28,778 - £32,097 per annum pro rata (dependent on experience). Job Role: You will be responsible for providing in depth knowledge and understanding of technical aspects of knit construction and production in order to support a range of activities across teaching and research. Essential Criteria: A degree, foundation degree or NVQ4, or equivalent in an area relevant to Knit and/or Constructed Textiles. Experience in the use of industry standard machines including knowledge of relevant processes, regulations and quality standards for Knit design and construction. Experience and an in-depth knowledge of using variety of industrial machines in the construction of knitted outcomes. Ability to provide workshop and studio-based design, sampling, prototyping and manufacturing technical support for Knit. Ability to carry out maintenance procedures and management of specialist equipment. Experience of implementing Health and Safety policy and procedures and Risk Assessment procedures. Experience of producing high quality outputs appropriate to the industry standards of the specialist discipline. Ability to create teaching/training induction schedules and demonstration material/resources for a range of skill levels. Experience of managing procurement including producing specification documents and bids, monitoring and resourcing consumable material stock levels and managing a budget. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Provide workshop and studio-based design, sampling, prototyping and manufacturing technical support including the maintenance of an equipment facility in the workshop environments associate with the specialist support of Knit. Implement and monitor health and safety in studio, workshop and teaching areas. Prioritise your own work within a general plan or schedule to meet deadlines and appropriate standards so as to ensure the workshops and studios are available for use, preparing for and providing technical assistance to timetabled sessions and open access periods. To be able to demonstrate a wide range of knit construction techniques including those on a range of industrial machinery. To ensure that the department is well maintained, this includes but is not limited to budget and stock management, and responsibility for the care and upkeep of departmental machines. Provide a support service including the first line diagnosis, maintenance and repair of faults in workshop equipment such as faults in apparatus, the materials compositions or in the tools, machinery or process. Provide a point of contact for specialist technical advice including inductions/demonstration/instruction/training in the use of specialist equipment/techniques. To work individually and as part of the team to provide technical support; to communicate and liaise with staff, students and other key contacts including grade 6 technical coordinators, internal and external project teams, in order to establish requirements to ensure work is co-ordinated and completed effectively.
