Job Description

JOB PURPOSE To evaluate and present applications for funding that contribute towards the Department’s and KIPP’s objectives and development goals. This would include performing the financial and/or technical and/or marketing due diligence functions for applications. Experience or interest in innovation and venture capital would be an advantage. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Financial / Shareholder Returns Ensure financial soundness of all credit submissions. Transactions aligned to IDC’s developmental outcomes  Internal / Operational Processes Evaluate applications for finance (financial, technical and marketing disciplines) Design and negotiating the financial and legal relationship between the client and IDC for the specific deal Risk identification and mitigation of transactions Undertaking financial modelling in respect of transactions Deal optimization - ensuring that the deal is aligned with the strategic objectives of the Department. Support the development and implementation of strategies or action plans to drive the Department’s strategic objectives Account management function. Prepare well-written and motivated reports for presentation to the relevant Panel and any other Panel as required. Conduct peer reviews.  Customer Focus Stakeholder Management To effectively interact with different clients (internally and externally) in order to fulfil the process requirements related to any specific deal / transaction. Manage and enhance the levels of service and communication to ensure the provision of client service excellence. Learning, Leadership People Growth Provide support in transactions during basic assessment and due diligence processes Manage own development to enhance own competencies Participate in knowledge sharing in the team and cross functional QUALIFICATIONS Minimum qualification: relevant commercial or engineering degree or equivalent. Post graduate qualification would be an advantage.  KNOWLEDGE EXPERIENCE 5-8 years related experience Experience in due diligence disciplines (Marketing, Technical or Financial) Knowledge in assessing all associated issues in a transaction (Legal, risks, etc.) Experience in peer review Experience in interpretation and analysis of financial statements Knowledge of the market environment and development landscape Knowledge of financing instruments Understand and review models of proposed financial structures Knowledge and experience in the areas of innovation and venture capital will be an advantage  TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES Financial acumen Business analysis Risk identification and mitigation Stakeholder Management and customer focus Planning and organising Report writing skills BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES Presentation and communication skills Negotiation skills Relationship Building and Networking skills Persuading and Influencing skills
