Job Description
Join to apply for the English language and literature Teacher role at Canadian School of Florence . Starting date: September 2026. We are seeking to appoint a passionate, dedicated and motivated English Teacher! You will be responsible for planning, delivery and evaluation of English language and literature, as well as EAL and language acquisition courses for high‑school students. You will teach the Ontario Curriculum ensuring relevance, engagement and alignment with school objectives. Teaching and Learning Promote the school’s mission and philosophy, ensuring students become true global citizens. Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to its development plans and growth. Implement agreed policies and developments. Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach and assess effectively. Meet requirements for assessment, evaluation and recording of students’ development. Use student tracking and monitoring processes to advance learning in line with the school’s aspirations and priorities. Take responsibility for professional development. Effectively communicate the school’s key messages and values, and act as an ambassador for the school at all times. Responsibilities Ensure high‑quality planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting that meet diverse learning needs. Create an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel comfortable expressing views. Teach and assess effectively, taking active responsibility for student progress. Use tracking, monitoring and intervention processes to advance learning. Communicate effectively with stakeholders and act as a school ambassador. Take personal responsibility for professional development. Adjust flexibly to school needs and contribute to development. Ensure school policies are understood and followed consistently. Education & Training Bachelor of Education degree (Ontario or equivalent). Qualified to teach middle‑school students in English. First‑language English speaker. Knowledge and/or experience of EAL and language acquisition. Experience Proven experience teaching in high school. Creativity and passion for teaching with strong work ethic. Experience with innovative teaching and learning. Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem‑solving, negotiation and mediation skills. Commitment to the mission and vision of the school, academic and co‑curricular directions. Enthusiastic, energetic, nurturing unique learning experiences. Collaborative, flexible and supportive team environment. Commitment to safeguarding and equality, maintaining confidentiality. High level of teaching, communication and presentation skills. Experience in an international setting and extracurricular experience are assets. The school Canadian School of Florence is a K‑12 school located in Florence, with campuses in Fiesole. Courses are taught in English, following the Ontario curriculum, with additional preparation for Italian national exams.
