Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/17/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position with telemetry and neuro expertise and weekend flexibility requirements. Responsibilities Work in a hospital-based Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30) Patient population includes CVA, hydrocephalus, brain tumors and resections, seizures, TBIs, trauma cases, GI surgeries, and large wound care Staffing ratios are typically 1:3-4; patient load of 5 only in emergencies Floating required to varying levels of care including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU within the hospital and affiliate hospitals Travelers may be assigned students to shadow or may serve as preceptors Cerner EMR is used Charge nurse responsibilities may be required depending on unit needs, with training and resources provided RTO policy allows up to 5 non-holiday days auto-approved; more requires approval Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract All travelers must be willing and able to float as needed Former perm or PRN employees must observe a 12-month separation before being eligible as travelers Pre-start modules required, averaging 8 hours to complete First-time travelers are accepted Requirements Active IN or compact RN license in hand prior to start Current certifications in ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS required Minimum of 18 months to 2 years recent PCU or related experience Proficiency in telemetry, neuro nursing, and management of drips Applicants must have graduated from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE Experience with Level 1 trauma and conscious sedation preferred Two supervisor references required No local candidates accepted for this position Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-628970.
