Global Head of Enablement, Transaction Banking Trade and Working Capital Area of interest: Corporate & Commercial Banking JOB SUMMARY • Accountable for executing the business and strategic agenda of the function ensuring operational excellence, disciplined non-financial risk management, and sustainable growth. • Partner with the Global Head of Trade and Working Capital and the Management Team (MT) to translate Group strategy into actionable execution plans, aligning people, processes, and infrastructure to deliver on revenue, cost, and efficiency targets leveraging the strong Trade product, domain and industry experience. • Provides leadership and accountability on execution of the business initiatives, while also ensuring effective balance sheet and capital management to support sustainable growth and returns by providing an additional lens and insight into balance sheet and RWA management. The role is collectively accountable with MT peers for governance, cost discipline, and effective allocation of resources across the Trade franchise. • Responsible for embedding a strong risk and control culture while driving simplification and efficiency. • Success will be measured through delivery of agreed outcomes on metrics such as revenue, returns, cost, productivity, service levels, risk, and compliance. RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Planning & Execution Partner with Trade and Working Capital Management Team (MT) to define execution plans for the strategic agenda, ensuring alignment to the Group Trade strategy and to identify and create areas of competitive advantage. Drive the implementation of the Trade strategic priorities as defined in the 5-year roadmap, ensuring timely delivery of business initiatives to meet near-term and long-term revenue targets. Translate strategic direction into actionable execution plans across Group products and clusters. Enable best-in-class Trade franchise performance by coordinating with Cluster Heads to operationalise Group direction and priorities. Provide regular updates to the Trade and Working Capital MT on progress against strategic initiatives, operational developments, and resolution of key issues. Ensure transparency through regular review of business performance metrics against agreed strategic objectives. Business Provide oversight of the business initiatives and book of work (BoW), ensuring timely execution, monitoring of deliverables, and alignment to strategic objectives and business priorities Drive data-driven business management through establishment of KPIs/Metrics that provides transparency into business performance through analytics, supporting revenue growth, margin optimization and resource allocation. Ensure effective balance sheet and capital management, working with Finance, CPM, Coverage, TB Sales and Risk partners to optimise capital allocation, RWA, and returns across the Trade franchise. Collaborate across support functions to ensure teams have the right capacity, skills, and infrastructure to deliver business priorities. Act as an escalation point for operational or client issues requiring global solutions; oversee remedial actions and ensure timely resolution. Remove operational blockages and enable smooth revenue delivery while maintaining a strong control environment. Understand horizon risks & opportunities for trade as a business and work with the Trade MT to make informed decisions about capacity & investments in the right areas. Ensure alignment of business strategy, communications and narratives to internal and external communications, and corporate branding and marketing (CABM) Processes Work closely with Technology and Operations to drive continuous improvement of the operational efficiency, effectiveness and consistency of global processes and systems. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to sustain competitive advantage. Manage the implementation of policies and control standards set by risk control owners, ensuring compliance, and operating within risk tolerance and risk appetite. Ensure there is a framework for effective management of operational risks within the business and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations. Continue to review front office processes to ensure efficiencies and adherence to controls, policies, and procedures. People & Talent Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners. Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles. Responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans. Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives. Risk Management Ensures appropriate frameworks are in place so that reputational, operational, conduct, and other non-financial risks are effectively identified, assessed, mitigated, and reported to relevant governance forums. Owns and chairs the periodic Trade Non-Financial Risk Committee (NFRC) forums, ensuring effective governance and oversight of non-financial risk across the franchise. Partners closely with the Global Head of Risk and Portfolio Management to ensure clear alignment and coordination on non-financial risk matters, while financial risk management continues to be managed separately under their remit. Proactively seeks regular assurance that risk and controls standards are maintained in line with the Enterprise Risk Management framework, and that a strong risk culture exists where issues are surfaced without fear and addressed promptly. Act quickly and decisively when risk or control weaknesses are identified, ensuring they are remediated within agreed timelines and escalated to the appropriate risk committees where necessary. Escalate significant non-financial risk issues, control blockages and emerging trends to senior management, ensuring timely action and accountability across Product, Operations, Technology, and Risk partners. Embed the Group’s value and code of conduct by fostering a strong risk culture and adherence to the highest standards of ethics and control discipline. Governance Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role. Responsible for delivering 'effective governance'; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner. Responsible for ensuring that material issues, risks, or incidents within Trade are identified and escalated in a timely manner, and that such escalations are communicated clearly to the Global Head of Trade for onward escalation to all relevant TB and/or CIB or Group governance committees or control functions. Work closely with the TB COO to support Trade’s strategic technology initiatives by building business cases for technology investments. Drive the adoption of technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and support business growth Ability to think literally and look for opportunities to simplify process and enhance controls as part of design Regulatory & Business Conduct Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. Business Continuity Management Responsible for ensuring an adequate Business Continuity Management (“BCM”) plan is in place across the business, to facilitate continuity of critical business operations in the event of significant business interruption. Key Stakeholders Internal Global Head, Trade and Working Capital Trade and Working Capital MT that includes: Group Solution Heads Cluster Heads Enablement and Advisory Heads Global Head, Trade Operations and Services CFO, Trade CPM, TB CIO, Trade TB COO MT Functional partners in Risk, Compliance, HR, Finance, Legal, Audit Our Ideal Candidate Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications; University-educated Languages: English Professional Experience 15 years of regional or global experience in Trade Finance with domain expertise and knowledge of Trade, Supply chain finance & working capital products, processes, key processing systems, & inherent risks in the trade space. Commercial acumen is key with strong grasp of Trade P&L dynamics, cost management, margins and returns optimization. Successful track record in business management, finance or Trade COO roles preferred. Good understanding of emerging trade themes e.g. Fintech platforms, trade securitisation, Fraud & AML risks, and implications of digital assets to this trade asset class. Advanced level communicator, skilled in stakeholder engagement across geographies, with ability to influence senior management, resolve conflicts and align on priorities to deliver outcomes in complex environments.
