Mechanical Assembler - Defence Engineering - Portsmouth Copello have partnered with an established defence engineering business based in Portsmouth to recruit an experienced Mechanical Assembler to join their production team. This is a hands-on, detail-focused role responsible for assembling, fitting, and testing mechanical components used in high-integrity defence systems. The successful candidate will work as part of a skilled team, ensuring that all assemblies meet the required standards of quality, precision, and reliability . Key aspects of the role include: Assembling and fitting mechanical and electromechanical components to engineering drawings and work instructions Using hand tools, torque wrenches, and measuring equipment to precise tolerances Conducting functional tests and inspections to verify build quality Working closely with engineers, quality, and production teams to resolve build issues Supporting continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives Maintaining a safe and organised work environment in line with company and defence standards Ideal background: Apprenticeship or qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (preferred but not essential) Previous experience in mechanical assembly, fitting, or precision manufacturing Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions Experience working within a regulated or defence environment desirable Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work Eligible for UK Security Clearance (essential) For more information, please contact Chantelle on 07769879801 or email your CV to chantelle@copello.co.uk
