Mechanical Design Engineer – Process Machinery & Automation The Company An established and growing engineering business is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its team. The company specialises in the design and manufacture of process machinery, automation equipment, and robotic solutions for a wide range of industries. The Role This role will suit a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in process machinery, automation, or robotics who enjoys taking projects from concept through to completion. Key responsibilities include: * Designing bespoke process machinery, automated systems, and robotic equipment. * Producing 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings. * Developing concepts into working prototypes and supporting design validation/testing. * Creating technical documentation to support the design process. * Working closely with colleagues across electrical, controls, and production functions to deliver complete turnkey solutions. * Supporting continuous improvement and R&D activities to enhance product performance. The Person The successful candidate will bring a strong mechanical design background with the following: * Mechanical engineering qualification (apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or degree). * Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar). * Experience in automation, robotics, or special-purpose machinery. * Knowledge of process equipment, mechanical assemblies, or materials handling would be an advantage. * A practical and problem-solving approach with excellent attention to detail. * Strong communication and teamwork skills.
