Location: Sacred Heart - Sandgate Start date: 07/10/2025 Work hours: 20 hrs per week Salary: Services Officer Level 3 | $32.50 per hour super Status: Term-time | Permanent Ad close date: 3rd of October 2025 Contact: bne.catholic.edu.au About the opportunity In this position you will be responsible for: Assisting in the upkeep of outdoor areas, including garden beds, paved spaces, and small lawn sections, ensuring they are clean, safe, and visually appealing Supporting the setup and basic maintenance of sports and activity areas for school events and carnivals Safely operating and maintaining small machinery and equipment, with attention to safety for self and others Assisting with general maintenance tasks as outlined in the school’s grounds and gardens maintenance plan Supporting the ordering and restocking of materials and supplies as needed Managing outdoor waste and recycling bins, ensuring timely disposal and cleanliness of communal areas Conducting basic pest and weed control in garden beds and paved areas About you To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including: Knowledge of maintaining playing surfaces, including fertilising, seeding, and turfing Ability to assist in preparing ovals for sporting events and carnivals Skilled in safely operating and maintaining small machinery, ensuring safety for all Experience in equipment and plant maintenance, following the grounds maintenance plan Ability to assist in ordering and purchasing materials for maintenance tasks Relevant tertiary qualifications at Certificate III level, or completion of an apprenticeship For this position you are not required to be Catholic.
