Job Description Job Description The Director of Engagement and Fraternity/Sorority Life provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for student engagement initiatives, leadership development, and the fraternity/sorority community. This position oversees programs and services that strengthen student belonging, enhance leadership capacity, and promote active campus involvement and reports to the VP of Student Affairs/Dean of Students. The Director plays a central role in fostering a values-based fraternity/sorority experience while advancing the broader mission of student engagement and success across the institution. Key Responsibilities Student Engagement & Leadership Development Provide strategic oversight of student engagement initiatives including student organizations, campus programming, student leadership development, and campus traditions (i.e. Leadership Plunge, Leadership Summit, etc.). Develop a comprehensive student leadership framework that incorporates workshops, retreats, and experiential learning opportunities to prepare students for leadership roles on campus and beyond. Serve as a resource and mentor for student leaders across all organizations, fostering skills in decision-making, collaboration, and inclusive leadership. Oversee tracking of student engagement, training, and support for all recognized student organizations, ensuring compliance with college policies and alignment with institutional values. Lead initiatives that connect co-curricular engagement with academic success, retention, and holistic student development. Collaborate with campus partners to deliver large-scale engagement events, civic engagement opportunities, and mission, value, purpose programming. Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) Serve as the primary advisor to fraternity/sorority governing councils and support chapters in the areas of leadership, recruitment/intake, member education, academic achievement, and risk management. Promote a safe, healthy, and inclusive fraternity/sorority community aligned with national best practices and institutional expectations. Partner with inter/national organizations, local alumni advisors, and university stakeholders to strengthen the fraternity/sorority experience. Design and implement leadership and educational initiatives tailored for fraternity/sorority members. Oversee community accountability processes in collaboration with Student Conduct and Risk Management. Leadership & Administration Supervise professional staff, graduate assistants, and student employees. Develop and manage departmental budgets to support student engagement and FSL initiatives. Lead departmental strategic planning, program assessment, and annual reporting. Serve as a key university representative on committees, task forces, and professional associations at the regional and national levels. Qualifications Required Bachelors degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field. Master's degree preferred Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in student engagement, leadership development, and/or fraternity/sorority life. Demonstrated ability to advise and mentor diverse student leaders and organizations. Knowledge of student development theory, leadership education, and best practices in both student engagement and FSL. Strong leadership, communication, and crisis management skills. Preferred Demonstrated success in program assessment, strategic planning, and learning outcome development. Professional involvement in AFA, NASPA, ACPA, or related organizations.
