The Business & Corporate Communications Intermediate Senior Lead is a seasoned professional who integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Contributes to standards around which others will operate. Requires in‑depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub‑function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the entire function. Requires basic commercial awareness. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and external/internal audiences. Has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness and delivery of end results of an area. May have responsibility for planning, budgeting and policy formulation within area of expertise. Involved in short‑term planning resource planning. Responsibilities Overall Management Develop and implement strategic communication programs for internal and external audiences Formulate communications strategies to support businesses on media relations, issues management, customer & staff events, community relations and internal staff communications and campaigns Develop an appropriate social media strategy and leverage various platforms to help build a profile for the franchise Draft positioning statements to manage business issues on external platforms that may pose reputational risk to the franchise Write speeches and memos for senior management Ensure all legal, regulatory and compliance issues are addressed in all communications and key conduct and risk messages are appropriately included Compile and keep current business information and fact sheets, and track media and communications strategies executed Co‑ordinate with external agencies to deliver communications campaigns Liaise with government and regulatory authorities, where necessary Monitor and manage budgets to specific briefs. External Communications Operate as a key media contact for all issues relating to Citi’s businesses in country. Secure regular media coverage to promote Citi brand and the businesses Advise senior management and approved spokespeople on media opportunities and issues as they develop Provide strategic advice and coaching to media manager on various projects and review all written materials Identify speaking opportunities and platforms to position senior management and support them in their communications needs Manage business issues and crisis scenarios , and provide strategic advice to management and handle media enquiries Plan and coordinate media analysis and manage vendors. Internal Communications Execute internal communications strategies to ensure that key messages reach all staff Develop materials to support internal communications strategies including talking points, PowerPoints etc. Leverage all internal platforms to disseminate key messages. Customer and Staff Events Lead, plan and execute internal and external events Oversee all planning, creative designs, written materials, logistics and on‑site management for each event Prepare briefing documents for senior management Work with partners and vendors to execute events. Oversee creative designs, content and written materials. Governance Ensure all legal, regulatory and compliance issues are addressed in all communications undertaken on behalf of the businesses Compile and keep current business information and fact sheets Co‑ordinate with external agencies to deliver campaigns Liaise with government and regulatory authorities, where necessary Monitor and manage budgets to specific briefs Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards. Qualifications 10‑12 years working experience in an MNC’s corporate affairs department, in a Public Relations agency or in journalism Fluent in English and outstanding written English skills Understand how traditional and social media work and be able to leverage them Able to provide creative solutions to achieve results Experience in banking is an advantage Personal Attributes Analytical and questioning Self‑starter who takes ownership and follows through Ability to work under pressure and deliver on goals Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work as a team with colleagues at all levels of the company Able to establish good relationships with journalists, partners and external suppliers Drive and focus to deliver on time and under budget Commitment to a long‑term career in corporate affairs. Education Bachelor’s degree in business management, communications, marketing or another related field This job description provides a high‑level review of the types of work performed.
