Job Description

Purpose Contributes to the overall success of the global community investment and employee engagement programs by ensuring specific plans and initiatives are tailored, executed and delivered in Latin America and the Caribbean in support of the Bank’s strategic priorities. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Critical to success in this role is a deep understanding of the social, economic, and cultural dynamics in Latin America and the Caribbean. This will enable the development of effective and impactful interventions tailored to these regions. Accountabilities • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. • Lead and deepen relationship management of a portfolio of ScotiaRISE charitable partners in Latin America and the Caribbean: o Identify partners and programmatic interventions aligned with the Bank’s global community investment strategy that address local needs in each market and foster positive relationships. o Ensure visibility of the budget in local markets and assist teams in aligning investments with ScotiaRISE and the global strategy. o Lead and operationalize a consistent and timely engagement model with community partners; from initial onboarding to periodic touch base meetings to year end impact reporting to fulfilling obligations to meet the grant payment timing. o Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including NGOs, think-tanks, government agencies and community leaders. • Manage the intake of incoming donations requests and lead the monthly process within the Philanthropy team on recommendations, material preparation for review and subsequent steps that follow an approval or decline. • Be the Subject Matter Expert and Relationship Manager to Regional Marketing Managers (SMRMs) and 12 Global Community Investment leads regarding regional donation requests; department key messages and strategy. • Profile ScotiaRISE community partnerships. o Act as the key conduit to internal stakeholders and ScotiaRISE community partners for marketing and communication needs. o Work with the International Banking Communications team as well as the local Communication teams to profile community partners in key markets. • Contribute to the strategic direction of ScotiaRISE portfolio: o Develop support materials and present proposals and reports to senior leadership during the Bank’s Community Investment Committee meetings (SVP leaders) o Contribute towards renewal and/or exit strategies where required. o Stay informed about global trends and best practices in community investment and employee engagement, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean. • Actively support our Latin America and the Caribbean markets in engaging employees with the Bank’s community investment partners. o Promote the usage of Spark as the Bank’s internal employee engagement platform for all activities connected to volunteering or giving in the region. o Work with the local teams to create and implement strategies to increase employee participation, volunteering and donation rates, with a focus on activities connected to ScotiaRISE partnerships. o Act as the strategic advisor and project lead for the Employee Giving Campaign in the region, connecting to senior leaders across the markets to raise awareness about this initiative and encouraging employees to participate. • Lead Social Impact strategy and execution for Mexico, ensuring alignment with ScotiaRISE and the Bank’s global community investment priorities. o Develop, review and recommend an annual portfolio of non-profit and charitable partners, including contribution limits and guidelines. Manage relationships from inception to activation and/or exit. Contract negotiation, identifying activavation and/or exit. Contract negotiation, identifying activation opportunities, impact reporting. o Identify and manage strategic partnerships with NGOs, government entities, and community organizations in Mexico. o Collaborate with local communications and marketing teams to amplify impact and visibility of initiatives. o Serve as the primary liaison for community investment activities with Mexican industry associations, ensuring compliance and alignment with national standards. o Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices between Mexico and other regional markets to enhance impact and efficiency. o Collaborate closely with both local leadership in Mexico and regional stakeholders across International Banking to ensure initiatives are locally relevant and regionally scalable. • In addition to social impact initiatives, the role also encompasses key sustainability responsibilities in Mexico, ensuring alignment with the Bank’s broader ESG commitments and strategic priorities. o Lead sustainability reporting efforts in Mexico, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and regulatory requirements. o Partner with the Sustainable Finance team to identify and support initiatives that advance environmental and social outcomes. o Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate sustainability considerations into strategies and partnerships. • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct Qualifications • Fluent in Spanish and English • 5-7 years of experience in Social Responsibility, Social Impact or related fields, preferably in a corporate environment • Post-secondary degree in related field • Master’s or equivalent degree an asset • Strong leadership and ability to work and problem-solve effectively in different cultural contexts Passionate and knowledgeable about social impact • Strategic thinking, excellent communication and interpersonal skills At Scotiabank, we value the unique skills and experiences that each person brings to the bank and are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive and accessible environment for all.
