Overview Data Center Senior Operations Lead — Bilingual (French/English) role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) recruiting for a position to support data center operations. The role is central to ensuring operational excellence and the performance of electrical, mechanical, and fire safety systems, including planned preventive maintenance, daily corrective interventions, emergency management, and the ongoing operations of a data center. The position also involves managing small- to mid-scale projects, from design to completion, and documenting results to optimize future implementations. The Senior Operations Lead provides essential support to engineering operations technicians and third‑party vendors, assisting with operation and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment on site. This team operates 24/7 in a dynamic environment. Continuous support and expertise from the Senior Operations Lead are essential to maintain high availability and efficiency of critical infrastructure. The role requires obtaining and maintaining an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada. Responsibilities Coordinate and distribute work by supporting engineering operations technicians and third‑party vendors. As a team leader, coordinate and allocate tasks for operation and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment on site. Plan interventions and assign responsibilities. Lead the maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems in data center operations, including backup generators, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, AHUs, cooling towers, pumps, motors, VFDs, and related equipment. Ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules, corrective actions, and emergency response protocols. Manage small to medium project scopes from design to completion, including cost quotes and documentation of results. Provide critical on‑site technical support to technicians and third‑party vendors. Maintain high availability and efficiency of critical infrastructure in a 24/7 environment. Basic Qualifications 3 years of relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment. In-depth understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in critical data center operations (generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS, ATS, PDU, pumps, AHU, CRAC units). Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (22 kg) and work in elevated locations. Ability to work in a 24/7 environment and provide after-hours support as needed. Bilingual in French and English required. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s or college degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent mechanical/electrical field experience.
