This posting may be used to fill multiple vacancies. Responsibilities As an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), you will: Assess emergency scenes and patients and may transport ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities. Operate ambulances or other modes of transportation, assess emergency scenes and patients, provide simple treatments and complete required documentation including patient care reports. Assist with ensuring that ambulances or other EMS vehicles, such as non-emergent transport (NET), are properly stocked and equipped. Work in a demanding environment with exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, moving traffic, and industrial/agricultural equipment. Travel in all weather conditions and to remote locations with exposure to hazardous and graphic scenes and direct exposure to bodily fluids. Physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 105 lbs, transferring patients, supplies, and equipment; kneeling and trunk flexion; standing and sitting for extended periods; bending, twisting; and side-carrying up to 20 lbs in each hand. Qualifications Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR) certification. Valid class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent and a five-year driver abstract current within six (6) months with no more than six (6) demerits prior to commencing work. Proof of successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via Lifemark certificate if not already in a clinical position within AHS EMS. The test must be completed no more than six (6) months prior to the date of application. Lifemark company information available at www.lifemark.ca/alberta-health-services. Preferred Qualifications Preference is given to those with previous EMS experience in metro, suburban, rural, or interfacility environments and in other areas of Health Care and Public Safety. Completion of additional post-secondary programs is an asset and will be considered during the selection process. Applicants must provide proof of completion of post-secondary education credentials to be considered.
