Job Requirements

You qualify for this position at the GS-03 level if you possess the following: Six months of general experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-02) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of general experience. General experience for this position includes: Using automated systems and software to enter, update, and sort data and text files. Examples may include editing and proofreading documents in Microsoft Word, Excel or similar software applications; updating manuals on office policies; and performing routine office procedures such as scheduling appointments, organizing files, or greeting visitors. OR Have completed one full academic years of post-high school study. OR A combination of post-high school education and experience combined, meet the qualification requirements for this position. You qualify for this position at the GS-04 level if you possess the following: One year of general experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-03) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of general experience. General experience for this position includes: Using automated systems and software to create, edit, and maintain electronic data and text files. Examples may include creating documents in Microsoft Word, Excel or similar software applications; verifying and editing data; and performing office procedures such as tracking expenses and drafting letters and meeting notes. OR Have completed two full academic years of post-high school study. OR A combination of post-high school education and experience combined, meet the qualification requirements for this position. You qualify for this position at the GS-05 level if you possess the following: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-04) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Demonstrating research and analytical skills; Developing spreadsheets, charts, and graphs. Examples may include providing assistance with projects that involve collecting and recording data, using software programs to track data, or assisting with reports. OR Have completed four full academic years of post-high school study. OR A combination of post-high school education and experience combined, meet the qualification requirements for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and provides valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If you are selected for this position, you will be required to: (1) sign a Pathways Participant Agreement; (2) furnish course registration information for the current school term; (3) provide documentation of future enrollment in a qualifying program; and, (4) if selected, must provide Official Transcripts within ten days of notification. NOTE: Qualifications are based on breadth/level of experience. In addition to describing duties performed, applicants must provide the exact dates of each period of employment (from MM/YY to MM/YY) and the number of hours worked per week if part time.
