Job Description
We are looking for a Technical Officer to join the Frontier team, based at Diss on a permanent, full-time basis. We are open to hybrid options for this role, with the right candidate working 3 days from the office and 2 days from home. This role involves creating accurate and insightful data reports, liaising with stakeholders across the organisation, researching, evaluating, and recommending ideas and technologies in the grain industry. Our aim is to modernize grain quality testing and improve food security through smarter, faster, and more accurate tools and systems. Cycle to Work Scheme, employee retail discount scheme and free eye test vouchers About You 2 years of experience in a laboratory, quality assurance, or technical role, preferably in the grain or agriculture sector. Experience with data evaluation and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms). Familiarity with grain testing standards and equipment is highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with all levels of staff. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Technically curious with a proactive approach to researching new tools and innovations. Organized and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. Strong IT skills especially in MS Excel Your Role As a Technical Officer your role will involve: Compiling, managing, analysing, and interpreting laboratory data related to grain quality, testing and the impacts to the wider business. Creating and maintaining detailed technical reports to support decision-making with QA projects and commercial decisions. Using data to monitor equipment efficiency, test accuracy, and opportunities for improvements by identifying trends. Liaising with staff across departments, including labs, grain traders, quality assurance team, to ensure technical alignment and support. Monitoring and researching new grain testing equipment and emerging technologies on the market and engaging with suppliers and manufacturers to conduct technical assessments. Organizing equipment trials, liaising with suppliers, and providing recommendations for purchases or upgrades based on performance, cost effectiveness and practical use.
