Job Title: Maths Teacher (SEND) Job Location: The Grange School, Thatcham (RG2) Salary: Between £34,257.60 and £42,536.00 depending on experience, based on working 40 hours per week, 39.2 weeks of the year. In this role, youll be working closely with children and young people who may have additional needs related to communication, cognition, sensory processing, or physical development. Your mission? To make learning come alive especially in Maths. Youll deliver Maths sessions to small groups or individual pupils, using inventive, hands-on approaches that spark curiosity and build confidence. Think maths games that turn numbers into adventures or cooking sessions where weighing and measuring become real-world problem-solving. Whether its baking to learn fractions or building with blocks to explore geometry, youll find ways to make maths fun, relevant, and empowering. We dont follow a one-size-fits-all model. Our curriculum is shaped around each pupils unique strengths, interests, and aspirations. While some may work toward formal qualifications, others will thrive through experiential learning and life skills. We celebrate progress in all its formsacademic, emotional, social, and practical. With class sizes typically around five pupils, youll have the space to build genuine relationships and tailor your teaching to each learner. Youll also have the opportunity to teach across subjects, bringing your creativity and care into every corner of the classroom. This is more than a teaching roleits a chance to change lives. To help children discover their potential, feel seen and supported, and develop the skills they need to thrive in adulthood. A day in the life of a Maths Teacher will involve: Leading classroom activities including planning, teaching and assessing learning, particularly with your class. This might involve teaching a range of curriculum areas and providing pastoral support. Monitoring and recording progress, both academically and against EHCP outcomes. Working closely with pupils to maintain their engagement, motivation and to inspire them to reach their full potential. Supporting individual pupils or smaller groups to help them achieve their learning goals. Fostering positive relationships with Teaching Assistants in the school and ensuring that the team around the pupil is effective. Supporting team members with delivery of Maths across the school. To be a successful Maths Teacher, youll need: An ability to teach Maths to Level 2 (GCSE/Functional Skills). Patience, compassion and resilience in how you interact with our pupils and team members. Strong verbal and written communication skills are important in this role as youll be speaking to a lot of different people at different times. A driving licence and a willingness to take pupils on trips within the school vehicles. A genuine interest in a career within this sector. In return for your time, youll get: Holidays Youll only work term time (39.2 weeks), and get paid the additional 12.8 weeks whilst youre off.
