Company Description TruLife Optics is a British Technology company that specializes in utilizing world-leading holographic technologies to develop revolutionary Augmented Reality optical components for smart-glasses. We are a friendly team of scientists ranging from physics and chemistry experts to maths and materials specialists. Our focus is on the mathematical modelling, optical design and prototyping holographic optics for our varied Tech clients. The position The role will be in the modelling team – (1) hologram mathematical models – implementing coupled wave theory and differential equations for various hologram specifications and exploring material models. (2) prototyping analysis scripts supporting metrology and lab work, including spectral data analysis, image analysis, dosage analysis, spatial light modulator programming. This involves learning how to interface with scientific instruments capturing the data. (3) organising training and making capabilities available to others – consolidating existing calculation methods and writing up training materials, organising teaching sessions. For all the above, clear reporting to high scientific standards are expected, including sanity checking and fool-proofing the methods and being aware of model limitations and doing error estimations. In this role you will interface and work with colleagues who are involved in the optical design and metrology of these holograms as well as the holographers making the holograms in our state of the art labs. You need to be practical, curious and determined, with a pride in your work and uphold high scientific standards. We are looking for a mathematics graduate with the following required: · First class degree in maths or physics · Desire to work in science · Python · Lab focussed maths tools · Adaptable and versatile, with a willingness to learn new skills. · Ability to prepare scientific reports, ability to take good lab notes and summarise · Right to work in the UK. Other The role as advertised has a large component of theoretical and computer based work. You will also be expected to do lab work as needed – e.g. taking data, interfacing with instruments, doing holographic experiments. Please apply if this combination appeals to you.
