Position Summary: Reporting to the Food Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with the assessment and review of imported food products against all applicable regulations, for compliance to Australian and New Zealand Laws (e.g. Food Standards Code, Australian Consumer Law, Trade Measurement Regulations, Imported Food Control Regulations etc.) for the Foods Buying team. You will also be responsible for assisting with the review of ingredients and the development of labelling for Costco's 'Fresh' food areas. This is a role suited to a Food Technology/Science graduate who is passionate about compliance and regulatory affairs. Job Duties/Essential Functions • Assist in the review of imported food products ensuring compliance to Australian and New Zealand regulatory requirements and the development of compliant, accurate artwork/labels • Assist in the ingredient review and label development for 'Fresh' food areas (Bakery, Deli, Food Court) • Work closely with internal Buying teams on matters relating to item reviews, regulatory compliance and food safety requirements • Actively manage Costco's Food Vendor Assurance Program and liaise with key external stakeholders such as certifying bodies and suppliers to ensure adherence to Costco's Food Safety Expectations • Coordination of the product testing program including shelf-life testing, nutritional testing and ad hoc product testing requirements of the business • Assist with the coordination of activities and tasks associated with the recall and withdrawal program • Provide support as required to Compliance and Buying teams for the investigation of product incidents • Support the internal training program for Buying teams in their education of product regulations, food safety requirements and the Compliance program • Support the business with environmental compliance in regards to packaging, including reporting and liaising with key stakeholders both internal and external Successful applicants Ideally you will possess: A degree in Food Science/Technology, Applied Science or like discipline Knowledge of Microsoft applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) Key Competencies 1 years’ experience in a regulatory, compliance or associated area in either retail, government or manufacturing within the food sector is desirable Understanding of the Australian and New Zealand labelling requirements according to the regulatory landscape Other Specific requirements: Subject to a satisfactory criminal check * If successful, you will be required to undertake role & department specific training within specified timeframes
