About this role: The school-based Speech Pathologist provides prevention, assessment, and intervention services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice and fluency and the provision of social, emotional health information. Job tasks and responsibilities: Determines service delivery plans within defined organisational parameters and based on professional and industry standards. Prepares professional reports requiring in-depth factual analysis including assessments and recommendations for consideration by others. Presents information to school personnel about relevant impairments (articulation, literacy, language, voice, fluency, social skills) and their impact on communication and learning. Contribute to policy development around the areas of student services and related areas. Liaise with parents, external service providers, and other agencies as necessary to ensure the well-being of students and optimise the quality services. Provide individual, group and consultative speech therapy programs within the school environment. Other duties as specified by the Head of Wellbeing Uphold the Speech Pathology Australia Code of Ethics and work within all the relevant legislation and legal constraints. Knowledge Skills & Abilities: Hold appropriate tertiary qualification(s) in Speech Pathology from recognised institution(s) and be eligible for Speech Pathology Australia membership Must hold, or be willing to obtain a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). Ability to work independently and participate effectively in a team environment and to develop collaborative working relationships. Experience and a sound knowledge of speech pathology techniques and the ability to develop, provide and evaluate a speech pathology service through individual and group programs. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult and advise other professionals providing service to students.
