Role details The Specialist Outpatients Department at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse to join their team on a permanent basis. Your opportunity The Clinical Nurse (CN) provides nursing services within the health service settings; and is responsible for a portfolio with a focus on clinical care/leadership, management, education and/or research. The activities are predominantly clinical in nature, but also provide support to a Nurse Grade 7 or above in management activities. The CN provides advanced level clinical skills to ensure patient-focused evidence-based nursing care, plans and coordinates the clinical management of patient/client care and provides leadership and support to other nursing staff. About the Team The Specialist Outpatient Department provides the setting for specialist medical care for a wide range of clinical specialities. The SOPD team provides the nursing and administrative support for the clinics. A range of other healthcare providers including other clinical nurse and allied health utilise the Specialist Outpatient Department to provide patient care. About our Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
