We strive for excellence in financial and economic management to improve the lives of all Victorians. The Economic Group supports the Government in growing employment, material living standards and economic activity. The Group advises on productivity growth, macroeconomic conditions, energy, climate change and decarbonisation, industry development, innovation, transport and infrastructure policy, and land use planning. The Innovation, Industry and Employment team advises on innovation, industry and employment policies aimed at boosting economic growth, productivity growth and real wages. Areas of focus include industry development and transition, innovation policy, major events, employment and agriculture policy. The team supports the implementation of the Government's Economic Growth Statement. The team also advises on governance arrangements for the Victorian Independent Remuneration Tribunal. About the role As a Manager in the Innovation, Industry and Employment team, you will work as part of a highly collaborative team and lead policy development to increase economic growth, employment and wages in Victoria. Coming onboard at a time of new economic challenges and uncertainties, you will deliver timely insights and policy advice to government and senior management on policy options to increase productivity across the state's economy and living standards for all Victorians. You will provide leadership and role model DTF values to junior team members, and contribute to projects that develop culture and capability in the team and across the group. Key Accountabilities Lead policy advice and guide DTF's position to deliver: Lead and develop the skills of team members within the Innovation, Industry and Employment team by fostering a positive culture, supporting development; managing work prioritisation and ensuring work is high quality and contributing to planning and direction setting. Work collaboratively within the team to balance workloads, ensure staff wellbeing, coordinate work and provide development opportunities for team members. Initiate, manage and maintain effective relationships with senior stakeholders, including providing authoritative advice and representing the department's views at inter-departmental meetings and forums. Be an active participant in the team's management, contributing to team planning, weekly meetings, fostering a positive, collaborative and inclusive team culture. Demonstrated experience in providing authoritative, high quality and timely advice on economic policy issues in a dynamic and complex environment. Demonstrated capacity to analyse complex economic policy problems, for example, through problem identification and options analysis techniques. Strong communication skills, including conveying complex issues persuasively to senior executives in plain language. Extensive experience in building relationships, shaping stakeholders' views and supporting informed decision-making on complex issues. Highly developed people management skills and experience that create the conditions for a high performing team. Experience and qualifications Tertiary qualifications in economics, public policy, commerce, law or a related field wo uld be an advantage. A strong understanding of the role and influence of state government would be an advantage.
