CORE PURPOSE OF JOB The Department of Human Movement Science is a well-established academic department housed in a state-of-the-art building. It has a recognized Biokinetics and Sport Science Unit (BSSU) and is an integral part of the Madibaz High Performance Complex. The Department is looking for an HPCSA registered Biokineticist with in-depth knowledge of growth and development and physical education. The incumbent will be expected to facilitate and administer the learning and teaching of students in modules presented at undergraduate and postgraduate level, to do research, to contribute to community engagement and to be involved in the core functions of the Department and the University. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Lecture in the various Human Movement Science under- and postgraduate programs and taking responsibility for, amongst others, but not necessarily limited to the following focus areas- growth and development and physical education. Be responsible for all academic related activities, including compiling course guides, manuals, lecture notes, assessments, and other related activities. Assist and be involved with research in the department and supervision of undergraduate and post- graduate students in research. Assist and conduct academic and operational administration. Identify students at risk, develop intervention strategies and monitor student progress. Participate in community engagement and service learning and liaise with relevant stakeholders. CORE COMPETENCIES Good knowledge of the theory and applications of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the areas of growth and development and physical education. Experience in facilitating learning and teaching at a tertiary level. Proven ability to facilitate learning of students of large classes in theoretical and practical components of Human Movement Science. Experience with liaising with and developing partnerships with relevant stakeholders Ability to compile material related to delivery of teaching and learning activities. Good administrative skills. Ability to contribute to community engagement and service learning. Proven ability to conduct research, publish, as well as present findings at conferences. Ability to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research Ability to work as part of a team in meeting the inter and multidisciplinary nature of the discipline REQUIREMENTS To be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must have the following : Qualification Be in possession of a masters degree in Human Movement Science (or equivalent). Being in possession of a PhD would be advantageous. Experience Have two years experience in teaching/ lecturing and research at university level in growth and development and physical education. Provide proof of current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Provide proof of CPD compliance Provide evidence of liaising with relevant external stakeholders related to physical education and health promotion. Research Have published research articles in recognised and refereed movement science, clinical or health-related journals, with a focus on clinical research or movement education. Provide evidence of having supervised postgraduate studies Skills: Have excellent and proven interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff and the public. Have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power-Point, Teams, Outlook) and Learning management Software.
