External job description Overview Amazon is seeking a Cluster Operations Manager for its Transportation team. We are looking for exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people to help us be the most customer-centric company on earth. The role involves setting up the delivery infrastructure in the city, identifying locations for delivery stations, and enabling rapid growth of the delivery network across the city. Essential Functions Defining, building and responsible for the execution of transportation processes from the FC to customers, leveraging our Delivery center network. Building capacity in the network by appointing Service Partners and planning IHS points; maintaining relationships with Service Partners and building their capability. Hiring, training and building a highly motivated workforce for the delivery teams, with support from HR and training teams, to meet operational requirements and maintain high standards of quality and productivity. Ensure sufficient bandwidth in the citywide delivery team for peak time delivery management. Coordinate with Finance, CS, FC and Projects teams on city operations matters. Conduct performance appraisals of Delivery Center Managers and Channel Relationship Managers, and mentor them for efficient operations. Continuously improve the delivery process to achieve sustained performance, initiate improvements to enhance quality, reduce waste, and eliminate unnecessary work. Analyze data reports to identify performance bottlenecks and drive improvements. Implement formal process control and process improvement mechanisms such as Kaizen. Essential Skills Strong leadership capabilities and people management skills. Ability to work under pressure and in ambiguous situations. Good communication skills; ability to explain objectives to the Delivery Center / Amazon teams and listen to input from involved parties. Ability to set and achieve realistic timelines for tasks and regularly review progress. Strong customer service orientation, and ability to align team understanding with customer needs and expectations. High ownership to ensure delivery of changes, solutions, or services that fulfill customer needs. Analytical skills to interpret information, identify key facts, and evaluate alternatives with associated risks. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Graduation; MBA. Experience in logistics or related fields is desirable. People management experience; experience handling field teams is highly desirable. Experience in live operations where decisions are made on the spot and actions initiated promptly. Knowledge of city topography is an added advantage. Experience in process improvement; knowledge of Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc. is a plus. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in Operations is an advantage. Strong familiarity with databases (querying and analyzing) such as SQL, MySQL, Access; exception-based reporting is a plus.
