Job Title: EC&I Engineer Location: West Yorkshire Salary: Up to £60,000 Benefits The Company We are recruiting for an EC&I Engineer to join the central maintenance team of a leading COMAH site in West Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex plant, electrical distribution, and control systems in a highly regulated environment, playing a key part in site safety, reliability, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities As an EC&I Engineer, your duties will include: Working as part of the maintenance team to ensure the site operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and all relevant standards. Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical, control, and instrumentation systems. Working on electrical distribution (415v 3-phase, 240v, 110v). Maintaining and fault-finding on PLC/DCS and hard-wired control systems. Proof testing of safety instrumented systems and critical alarms. Creating EC&I drawings (e.g., block cable diagrams, single line diagrams), technical specifications, and basis of design documents. Producing and reviewing documents such as risk registers, testing strategies, method statements, and technical files for new equipment. Participating in HAZOPs, design reviews, and supporting safety case development. Ensuring designs and systems comply with relevant standards, legislation, and project requirements, including functional safety. Checking the quality of design deliverables to ensure compliance with standards. Supporting commissioning activities, including site visits and occasional overnight stays. Identifying and resolving technical issues proactively. Maintaining site EC&I records through the CMMS system. Contributing to continuous improvement and sharing technical knowledge with colleagues. Requirements To be considered for this role, you will need: Level 3 Electrical qualification and/or time-served apprenticeship. Training in BS7671 wiring regulations. Knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations. IPAF certification (or willingness to complete). Strong PLC/DCS fault-finding and troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of BS60079, BS EN 61508 or BS EN 61511 (advantageous). Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
