No Offer Description The Department of Musicology and Cultural Heritage invites applications for a professional collaboration contract as Project Manager for the ERC Synergy Project REM@KE ( Reconstructing Embodied Musical Knowledge at the Keyboard ). The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team based in Italy, Sweden, and the UK, collaborating with leading scholars in organology, empirical and historical musicology, music cognition, artistic research, psychoacoustics, and digital humanities. The professional will work closely with the corresponding Principal Investigator, Prof. Massimiliano Guido, both remotely and in person at the project's institutional main office, based in Cremona. (While there is some flexibility with remote working days, availability is required for key in-person events, including research seminars, outreach events, and other activities requested by the PI.) Where to apply E-mail webmaster.musicologia@unipv.it Requirements Research Field Other Education Level Undergraduate Skills/Qualifications The contract provides for: • scientific and technical organization of activities, seminars, conferences, and travel; • support and liaison between the project team and the Department’s administrative offices; • dissemination of results for the first year’s activities (October 1, 2025 – September 30, 2026). Specifically, the Project Manager must: • support the Corresponding Principal Investigator and the other PIs, acting as liaison with the administrative offices of the Universities of Pavia, York, and Göteborg; • monitor activities and coordinate research trips, seminars, conferences, and dissemination events scheduled for the first year; • serve as communication officer for social media and spokesperson of the project, following the guidelines provided by ERCEA and the PIs. Specific Requirements The Research Project The REM@KE project, a collaboration between the Universities of Pavia, Gothenburg, and York, explores how embodied knowledge has shaped keyboard musicianship and instrument building throughout history. The project combines historical analysis, organological study, empirical research, practice-based exploration, and physical and digital reconstruction. It investigates the diverse ways in which musicians, instrument builders, listeners, and educators engage with historical keyboard instruments and their replicas, inspiring innovative approaches to their reconstruction. The Project Manager will assist the Corresponding PI and the other PIs and act as a liaison with the administrative offices of the Universities of Pavia, York, and Gothenburg. The Project Manager will monitor the activities and coordinate the research travel, seminars, conferences, and dissemination events of the first year. The Project Manager will act as Social media coordinator and spokesperson for the project, following the guidelines provided by ERCEA and the PIs. The working language is English, but fluency in Italian is also required. Travel allowance for visiting the host institution and other research-related events, up to € 3.000,00. Eligibility criteria The job is open to both EU and international applicants . Candidates should meet the criteria: Secondary school diploma or equivalent foreign qualification; Previous and documented experience as Project Manager; Knowledge of English; Knowledge of Italian. Candidates possessing the essential requirements will be admitted to a comparative evaluation, consisting of an assessment of qualifications (50%) and an oral exam exclusively in English (50%). Independent and collaborative work within an interdisciplinary team; Basic principles of project management software; Website and social media management; Italian university administrative regulations; Dissemination activities related to cultural heritage, museums, and basic research; Fundamentals of musical, musicological, or organological research; Fundamentals of Digital Humanities.
