Here is how YOU would help benefit the team: job purpose Coordinates the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization by performing the following duties: 1. Coordinates all activities related to procurement of a commodity from intent to purchase through delivery. 2. Analyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed. 3. Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested commodity. 4. Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements. 5. Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs. 6. Assures that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company. 7. Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records. 8. Coordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute commodity in a cost-effective manner. 9. Confers with suppliers concerning late delivers and/or quality issues. 1. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Education/Certifications/Experience · Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university · 7 years related experience, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Casting/forging experience · MRP/ERP, BPCS (IBM iSeries) · Domestic/global sourcing Knowledge/Skills/Competencies · Problem Solving – collects and researches data. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. · Customer Service – Manages difficult or emotional customer situations. Responds promptly to customer needs; responds to requests for service and assistance. · Quality Management – looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Displays orientation to profitability. Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition. · Planning/Organizing – Prioritizes and plans work activities. Uses time efficiently. Attention to detail is essential. · Mathematical Skills – ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. · Computer Skills – MS Office, proficiency in Excel, internet savvy. · Language Skills – ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of suppliers or employees of the organization. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
