Job Description

Key Responsibilities Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance & Repair Inspect, diagnose, and repair faults on diesel engines, gearboxes, differentials, brakes, clutches, suspension, and steering systems. Maintain and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on heavy-duty vehicles and machinery. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing according to manufacturer and company standards. Fault-Finding & Diagnostics Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot engine and system malfunctions. Identify worn or damaged parts and determine necessary repairs or replacements. Workshop Operations Ensure tools, equipment, and workshop facilities are maintained in good working condition. Complete job cards, maintenance logs, and service records accurately and on time. Safety & Compliance Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and company policies. Ensure repairs meet roadworthy, environmental, and industry safety standards. On-Site & Breakdown Support Attend to breakdowns in the field and perform roadside or on-site repairs when required. Be available for standby duties and emergency call-outs. Qualifications & Experience Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent. N2N3 Mechanical Engineering or Diesel Trade Theory advantageous. Certification: Trade Test Certificate Diesel Mechanic (Red Seal). Experience: Minimum 35 years post-apprenticeship experience as a Diesel Mechanic in transport, mining, agriculture, or construction sectors. Experience with heavy-duty trucks, earthmoving equipment, or industrial generators advantageous
