Qualified Junior Mechanical Engineer

Job Purpose: To support the design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems and components. The Junior Mechanical Engineer will assist in project planning, perform calculations, produce technical drawings, and collaborate with other departments to ensure mechanical solutions meet project requirements and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems Create and revise technical drawings using CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD) Perform basic engineering calculations and simulations Support in prototype development and testing Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during manufacturing or assembly Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental standards Prepare documentation, reports, and technical manuals Participate in site inspections, installations, and commissioning when required Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends Minimum Requirements: National Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering 02 years experience in a mechanical engineering environment (internships or graduate programs included) Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes Good understanding of materials, hydraulics, pneumatics, and thermodynamics Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and within a team Valid drivers license (if required for site visits Advantageous: Exposure to project-based engineering environments Experience with FEA or simulation software Basic understanding of ISO or SANS standards ECSA candidate registration
